about

The attack on Lindisfarne in 793 is often referred to as the start of the viking age. Vikings sailed west to find new lands and new riches, or hell, just to see what was out there, if anything. They landed on the beach and attacked Lindisfarne and plundered lots of cool shit. This song was put together lyrically, based around the Lindisfarne attack in 793.

I hope you enjoy it. Thanks for listening!

lyrics

Ships sail west, with winds of fortune
Seas rage, the skies quake
Black clouds of apprehension
His fears of death approach

Upon the seas horizon
Sails gather on dreaded water
He cries to God for help
Northern beasts cry for blood

Screams from the land
echo throughout the ages
as Pagan steel cuts
through Christian flesh

Riches untold
to a blind silent god
His sheep cry and die
as this holy land burns

Bloodied bodies
the sacred ground covered
he grips his book
begging God for strength

He charges the beast
wielding his holy shield
A northern wind whips
as the axe cleaves his skull

Pagan gods
laughing in halls of gold
pagan axe reaps untold reward

The northern beast
returns to his ship
pagan beasts feast and laugh
and will return again...
